Camden Soldier Obituary Tahlequah OK Death – Camden Rece Matthew Soldier Passes Away
Camden Rece Matthew Soldier Death, Obituary – The Tahlequah community, along with friends and family across Oklahoma, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Camden Matthew Soldier, affectionately known as “Cam.” Born on January 26, 2009, Cam’s journey was filled with vibrant energy, kindness, and a love for life that touched everyone around him.
Sadly, at just 17 years old, Cam gained his wings on May 28, 2026, in Park Hill, Oklahoma, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dreams unfulfilled.
Cam entered the world ready to conquer the world. As the youngest of five children, he loved exploring the outdoors, especially being near water, traveling, and gathering with loved ones.
His childhood was full of adventures, and he built lifelong friendships during his early schooling at Chouteau Elementary. There, he formed a special bond with Mrs. Shelle Messer, whose influence left a lasting impression. Cam often fondly recalled her guidance, saying, “Mama, Mrs. Messer would be proud,” or, “Ooh, Mrs. Messer would have gotten me for that,” showcasing his playful spirit and respect for those who mentored him.
In the summer after eighth grade, Cam moved to Tahlequah with his mother, April Dreadfulwater, and stepfather, Cody Sparks. He then began his high school journey at Keys High School, where he quickly made new friends and grew close to his teachers, especially Mr. Darrell. It was during this time he met Nehemiah Begay, who became like a brother from another mother someone who shared in his adventures and supported him through life’s changes.
Cam’s love for music and travel blossomed during his teenage years. Countless road trips with his close friend Abby Goad were filled with laughter, music, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime.
His newfound independence was evident when he purchased his first truck with help from Bill and Wendi Worthington, making it almost impossible to keep him at home. Cam’s fiery spirit and zest for life were contagious, inspiring those around him.
As he matured, Cam decided to pursue his GED and enrolled at Oklahoma Technical College (OTC) to train as an HVAC technician. His enthusiasm for learning and his commitment to bettering himself showed his determination to create a brighter future. Under the mentorship of Mr. Jimmy at OTC, Cam found his place in the world, wearing his uniform proudly and dreaming of what lay ahead.
Camden was more than just a student; he was a beloved son, brother, nephew, and friend. His big heart, radiant smile, and talents made him stand out. He especially loved his mother’s fry bread, a comfort food that reminded him of home and family. His love extended to his siblings Lauran, Trent, Andrew, and Matthew II and his special bond with his friend Abby.
Cam’s family and friends remember him as a quirky, charismatic, and compassionate young man whose presence lit up every room. Cam is survived by his mother, April Dreadfulwater, and stepfather, Cody Sparks; his father, Matthew Soldier; siblings Lauran, Trent, Andrew, and Matthew II; his brother from another mother, Nehemiah Begay; and numerous uncles, aunts, grandparents, and extended family.
His memory is cherished by all who knew him, and his spirit will forever remain in their hearts. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Chouteau First Baptist Church, with Pastor Brian Soldier officiating. A wake will take place the evening before at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor.
Friends and family are invited to share their condolences and stories at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com. Camden’s passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of love, resilience, and zest for life will continue to inspire. Rest peacefully, Cam we will always remember you.
